2023 – full of changes and innovations

Ah, the beginning of the year – the time for New Year's resolutions and setting goals. But before setting goals, one must take stock and remember what the previous year brought. For JOIK, it was a special year because we moved to a new house. At the house topping-out ceremony, a representative from the construction company said that during an economic recession, only those who are absolutely sure they're doing the right thing undertake such a large project. Our addition to that was "or they’re crazy." But perhaps we are a bit crazy, doing what we love with passion. In any case, it was an exciting year, and now let's break it down into parts.

Continuing on the path of environmental sustainability
.
In March, we declared it environmental month and took further steps toward sustainability. We had an incredibly successful campaign for returning candle glasses, encouraged ourselves and friends to be more environmentally conscious, and our popular hand wash foams got refill packages. Now we have refills for home fragrances, wooden scented beads and hand wash foams.

Award season for makeup products
.
Spring has always been award season in beauty world. In 2023, we naturally put all our efforts into the makeup line completed the previous year and sent various makeup products to competitions. We received our first award from beauty magazine Anne & Stiil beauty awards where our 3-in-1 make-up stick was awarded in the very competitive make-up category. The next one was beauty magazine Buduaar beauty awards and we were victorious with our liquid eye shadows in the natural cosmetics category.

But it really started raining awards at the internationally acclaimed Beauty Shortlist Awards. They crowned our products winners in 3 categories.

New products and product updates

At the beginning of the year, we thoroughly examined our product range and decided that some products and product lines needed updates. By the end of spring and the beginning of summer, the work bore fruit, and new products were ready. First, we completely revamped our hand and foot care product line, surprising with new recipes and scents!
Our hand and foot creams, in convenient airless packaging, have a denser texture, bursting with good natural oils and bioactive ingredients, moisturizing even better but absorbing faster. The fresh scent of the hand cream quickly found devoted fans.
JOIK's beloved hit product, the deeply nourishing hand and foot balm, now contains a larger amount of active ingredients, such as propolis that aids in skin recovery.
All products in the foot care line contain abundant magnesium, which absorbs best through the skin and helps relieve muscle tension, foot fatigue, and restless legs.

The JOIK Organic body care line also received updates:

Freshly scented natural deodorants and body creams with citrus and bergamot, as well as sweet orange and mint fragrances, were added.
We completely revamped one of our hit products – the bronze & shimmer oil. Now an even more moisturizing oil gel, enriched with excellent organic oils (organic oil content 91.2%) and added golden shimmer pigments, comes in a convenient pump bottle, making it easier to use.

Building our home…
.
For a year, we've been building our own house for JOIK, and in July, it was finally time to move in. Our custom-built house is beautiful, spacious, and equipped with modern energy solutions. We have our own solar park and room to grow. The coolest part is that we're located at the end of a small cul-de-sac, and beyond us lies a green area. Although we're on the outskirts of Tallinn, looking out the window feels like being in nature.

Towards the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, we gave ourselves time to settle and were making preparationsn for the Christmas season. By October, we were ready and invite our partners and closest friends to a housewarming party, where we also presented the limited edition project of 2023.

JOIK Glam collection

We continue our tradition of collaborating with Estonian artists for our 10th year, and this year's special project is the glamorous "Glam" gift box collection. The boxes are adorned with the glamorous and playful illustration of Estonian designer and artist Janika Sootna. Inspired by the sparkling color palette and texture of salted caramel, raspberry pink, and sparkling wine within the boxes, they reflect the inviting world of scents, the warmth, enchantment, and mystery of the festive season. The collection includes three unique gift boxes.

The salted caramel candle is a new superstar among candles. Its delightful scent quickly becomes a favorite and becomes one of the most popular candles during the holiday season. Dominated by caramel and rum in the top notes with a slightly bitter undertone, coffee and toffee in the middle notes, and vanilla and brown sugar in the base notes.

The raspberry bon bon scent found its place in home fragrances. The familiar and beloved scent from body care products is now available as a candle, scent diffuser, wooden scent balls, and room spray.

Almost famous
.
The end of the year is always the busiest time for us when all JOIK employees are like little elves constantly making more products so that as many JOIK packages as possible reach Santa's bag. So, when the hosts of the popular TV show "Õhtu" Robi and Jüri offer to help us, we gladly accept. We have them make some candles and the result is a fun segment to show everyone how we operate here at JOIK.

We want to show more of our activities to friends and fans, so this year we're also really active on TikTok. Occasionally, we share instructive and sometimes just playful clips, making it enjoyable for both us and our followers. For instance, our "candle memory" story caused a lot of excitement and confusion, but it actually contains useful information on how to properly burn a candle.
