If you’ve used JOIK’s new skincare products, you’ve likely noticed that most come in airless bottles. These modern and smart containers weren’t chosen at random – they come with a range of benefits for product longevity, hygiene, and user experience.
But like any system, airless bottles can occasionally act up: you press the pump, and… nothing. So why does this happen – and how can you fix it?
What is an airless bottle and why is it great?
An airless bottle is a vacuum-based packaging system. It has no inner straw and no air inside. Instead, a small platform at the bottom rises with each pump and pushes the cream upwards. Because the product never touches air, it means:
- Longer shelf life
- More hygienic use – no need to dip fingers into the product
- No waste – you can use up every last drop!
Why does the pump sometimes not work?
It’s rare, but it can happen – especially when:
- The product is brand new and the vacuum hasn’t “activated” yet
- The bottle has been sitting unused and the platform is slightly stuck
The good news? It’s easy to fix with a few simple tricks.
Put the cap on, turn the bottle upside down, and tap it against a table.
– This helps the inner platform shift and kick-starts the vacuum.
Shake it like an old mercury thermometer.
– Yes, really! Sometimes it just needs a bit of motion to get going.
Pump several times in a row.
– 6–10 pumps is often all it takes.
