Victorious year for JOIK self-tan products!
When we first came out with our self-tan line in spring of 2020 we predicted warm reception, but we could never have foreseen such success story these 1,5 years has seen. Products have received very positive feedback from users, are showing wonderful sales results and have brought home awards from 4 different competitions.

How the line was born

One might wonder if it’s risky to bring more self-tanners into a very saturated segment, but to overcome those fears you just have to find out what your clients want. While researching the market we found out our clients mostly have 4 main doubts about self-tanners: they fear the tone will look unnatural on skin, it has a strong specific smell, it smeares clothes and is not natural enough. Our aim was to create products that dissipate all those doubts.
So, we did just that and created our mini product line with 2 body lotions and one universal face product. We created body lotions in tones light and medium - both so natural-looking, that even a novice tanner would achieve even tan gradually. The facial drops are a versatile product and can be mixed into your favourite moisturiser and this way you have complete control over the darkness of tan.
For best user experience we have created Facial care combo Sunny complexion which includes products ideal for achieving beautiful and even sunny complexion.

Good products get the praise

We got our first positive reactions from our product testers and the praise continued after we started selling the products. It was such pleasure to read, that we had exceeded all expectations and dissipated all aforementioned doubts. Some are happy with the natural tone of tan, others love that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t smear clothes. Many praise, that it almost doesnt have the distinctive smell of self-tanners. An educated consumer appreciates that JOIK self-tanners are certified organic products - there aren’t that many among self-tanners.

Kärt: „„Tan“ develops in couple of days, is natural and even and does not look yellowish. I’ve not used it for couple of days now to not be too tanned. And you can see it will last for ages. If you apply it in the evening you can wake up with natural tan, such luxury. And there’s no distinctive smell.“

It’s raining awards
.
We were very moved by the clients’ great feedback and decided to send the product to some cosmetic competitions both in Estonia as well as abroad. Our first award was from Estonian beauty magazine Anne & Stiil beauty awards. Sunless tan lotion won in „Estonia’s local beauty products“ category and Sunless tan drops were singled out in „Sun &tan“ category.
And the awards kept on coming. Estonian magazine EMA (Mother) has gathered the coolest and most sustainable companies and creators to bring them all into one shopping guide called „Beautiful life guide“. JOIK was picked as one of the sustainalble brands and they chose our Sunless Tan Facial drops as our flagship product, that anyone should have at home.
And then we hit the jackpot! We submitted our sunless tan products to the internationally acclaimed The Beauty Shortlist Awards and were picked as finalists with both products, meaning we were among the best from hundreds of applicants in categories: Best New Natural Product - JOIK Organic Sunless tan body lotion Medium; Best New Organic Product - JOIK Organic Sunless tan facial frops. Then, in May, we received the most wonderful news, that our facial drops had won first place in the very prestigious Organic category!
